Welcome to our Room
In addition to art, music and gym, students will take Italian. They will spend time studying the language as well as learning about the Italian culture. We will celebrate what we have learned at the end of the year with an Italian party!
We will spend time reading and writing different genres. Some projects include: personal narrative, poetry book, research paper and powerpoint presentation.
This is my 3rd year at Horace Mann. In the Fall of 2009 I completed my student teaching with Mrs. Savarino in her first grade classroom. I am excited to spend another year in 5th grade!
We will be using the district wide behavior plan. However, I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement and will use this approach always!
Students will have homework every night. The purpose of homework is to serve as a reinforcement of what was learned during the day. If your child is struggling on an assignment, please let me know--I may need to reteach a concept. Homework should never be a struggle between you and your child!
5th grade is a very exciting time at Horace Mann. We will need your support to have a successful year to plan and coordinate many of the events that occur!
In April we will be going to E-Camp. We will need two parent volunteers to come with us. If you are a dad who is interested in chaperoning please let me know!
